i planted 2 plants this year. first time i've ever grown them. university of new mexico (as i remember it) had been selling seeds a few years back and had lots of good advice on handling them. they suggested you never handle them without rubber gloves.

i harvested several last week and bearing UofM's advice i tried to not handle them, put a bowl beneath the pepper and cut the stem with side cutters. i had a good harvest to dry so decided to dry these as well, i put them on the dryer tray and picked them up by the stem, the pads on my thumb and forefinger went numb almost instantly. after drying all the stuff for 3 days i emptied the dryer, i handled the dried peppers by their stem again, no numbness. put them in a baggie and about my business, decided i needed a small pinch twixt my cheek and gums i got a small dip, mistake, mistake, mistake..i'm still "enjoying" the medium burn that transferred off my fingers onto the wolf dip.

need to get rubber gloves

Be thankful you didn't sit down to watch some porn LOL

I made the mistake of Spraying some Desenex AF foot spray on my feet and failed to wash my hands. I was in the bathroom at the time, reached down to give the family jewels a scratch behind the ears and it was OOOOMMMMGGGGG IT BURRRRRNS!!!!!

Started slapping water on them. BIIIIIG mistake! Went from OMG it burns to "dear God, please kill me!

no, i don't eat those super hot peppers. i dry them then add them to a bunch of milder peppers like banana or hot banana and grind them, i teensy bit will really make food pop

sadly i must confess to doing something similar but used the cream not the powder, you just can't get bow legged enough when you're doing an exotic dance trying to cool jewels, and my now exwife mocked me

Ghosts are a great pepper.

My wife banned...did I memtion banned me from growing Carolina Reapers this year.

Last year I had a few buddies that thought they were chilie style pepper heads....they could eat Habaneros like buttered toast.

Buddy #1. Took a Reaper and bite it all the way to the end of the stem. Chewed it 3-4 times and gave me a sh*t eating grin. About 30...maybe 45 seconds later his face was a beautiful shade of purple. He tried to get up from the kitchen table...he buckled at his knees and threw up everywhere. Then he grabbed at his chest like he was having a heart attack. I rushed him to the back yard and just sprayed his face and mouth with the water hose.

He doesn't eat any hot peppers.

Buddy #2. He poped the Reaper into his mouth and started chewing....about 15 seconds he spit it onto the table and grabbed his ears saying his mouth was on fire and he couldn't hear. He grabbed the jug of milk and consumed it....THEN the idiot put it back in his mouth and swallowed it.

He was shaking his head back and forth like a dog sprayed by a skunk. Then he screamed...more milk!!!

After 2 gallon jugs he ran into the back yard and threw up on my oak tree. He also stumbled toward the water hose and sprayed his mouth for about 25 minutes.

Both of those incidents scared my wife so much...she stated..NO MORE REAPERS!!!!

I sure miss growing and giving out Reapers...

The 2 goobers that ate my Reapers...scared off the other pepper head buddies..dang it.

Nope. No thank you. Just the SMELL of regular old WhatABurger ketchup (not the spicy stuff, the REGULAR ketchup) burns my throat since my surgery.

I'm good over here ... watching the show! Lol
