I have a Samsung blu Ray player and I have never had one not play. And i watch all kinds of movies on it.

I have a blu-ray... No idea what model, but LG makes it... Don't even know if it plays blu-rays, but it streams like a beast

Blu rays look and sound better than streamed movies. I buy a lot of movies digitally but still pick up a physical copy on some movies.

That's because streamed movies, and (most) pirated movies are compressed. People notice compressed video more easily than compressed audio, especially now that the age of the mp3 is in full force, so that's the first to go. The video is not as sharp too, but it's not noticed as much.
