I'm not sure about the acorns. Have read that you have to leach the tannic acid out of them. Start here: http://www.grandpappy.info/racorns.htm Maybe that will help.

We always make applesauce. That is IF we have apples left over. Usually GC eats them fresh until he can't stand apples, then I work on them for a while (I'm more of an orange kinda gal :D) and then what's starts getting mealy gets diced up and fed to the chickens. Those girls are the best garbage disposals on the planet!
