Don't take the .380 with you. I don't remember where it was at but during modern firearms your carry pistol needs to meet state requirements for legal game taking in the field.

pythons right. Last I checked, a.380 isn't an acceptable means of taking.

I usually carry a .243,(Browning BAR or Remington 660 Mohawk) and will this year when hunting pasture and highline ROW. But my woods stand rifle will be a Uberti '60 Henry in .44-40, and my woods walking rifle will be a Rossi '92, also in .44-40. And on my hip will be a Uberti Single Action Army, also in (guess what?) .44-40. Hmnn, I think I see a pattern developing. All will be loaded with a full case of my homemade black powder.

7mm WSM, unless I'm still hunting, then I carry the 760 Remington carbine in .308.

No suprise here. The two most popular single calibers. 30-06 followed by its offspring catridge the .270. Some things never change.
