But you are in the minority and the majority of the citizens don't have that option or are not willing to use it. So, that's not really a viable alternative for the nation to rely on.
I understand that. I was just speaking for myself. Maybe if the police get defunded it will force folks to start buying and using guns. It may be a blessing. After all, our founders warned us about having police be a standing army. That’s exactly what it has become.

I think there are lots of people who have guns, and lots of people bought them right after the start of the pandemic. They don't have ammo (because you can't get it), or they have no clue how to use the gun, or they couldn't hit anything with it under stress or any other time.

And I really think a huge percentage of the gun owning population really would not shoot another person in many, many cases. They have had no training and really don't want to do that and probably can't pull the trigger.

There ain’t no calling the police here. Someone does that and their getting shot. I don’t need the police. They always show up after the crimes have happened anyway. And if someone ever does use a gun the police will try and entrap you into saying something they can use against you.
You don't have to tell the police anything. Not one word or syllable. Most people entrap themselves. You can also tell the FBI no. Don't incarcerate yourself.

I think the name is misleading, I saw a breakdown of what it means

They want a lot of the “social worker” jobs taken out. Mental health checks, instead of arresting for small drug possession and addiction help people with recovery. I’ll see if I can find the breakdown of what I saw, but it’s a lot more reasonable

I don't really understand your comment, "They want a lot of the "social worker" jobs taken out" ? Taken out of what ? and put where?

And I don't know who "they" is because there are about 50 different cities slinging this term around and I'm pretty sure it does not mean the same thing at all of those.

If it's a lot more reasonable they better get to explaining then, because the crowds I saw are clamoring for getting rid of the police....period !

...and, that ain't gonna fly with most of us !

I'm sorry, but that post is a bunch of socialist bullsheet. The police are not "social workers" as this person claims. They are law enforcement. Don't want to have a visit from the cops? Don't break the $*@*'in law! Its not a hard concept. Who is going to pay for all those social programs they are talking about? The many jobless people? Oh right, the middle class. Who will be taxed to high hell and turned into the next poverty class. You know the rich won't pay for it, they never do.

Here is a quaint concept; how about a little personal responsibility? You want a better job? Gain a skill. You want your kids to get a good education? Pay attention to them, teach them manners and how to act in school, encourage them to do better and when they refuse to do so, bust their ass! No kid is born lazy. No kid is born a thug. Its all learned behaviors that start in the home.

Thanks Harvey, so it just looks like some post from other people who are making stuff up as they go along, because they don't seem to have any real guidelines from anyone in authority. Just more uninformed opinions, so I don't know how it can be considered "misleading" since no one knows what the details being proposed are.

But thanks for responding to my question.
