I'm amazed at how many of you feel compelled to justify this mans kill. Honestly, we're the alpha species on this planet. Rogue this, logic that... it's all wild kingdom. To the victor go the spoils.

As Okbassin said one cannot reason with ignorance ah sooooooooooo true on this subject. Those who spread the poison of rationalizing the killing of lions, elephants, and rhinos truly are more than misinformed. The numbers of these species have dropped off the charts in the last 60 yrs. Lions alone have gone down to less than 25000 form times that. Elephants well they ARE on the endangered list contrary to posts here. Rhinos well less that 250 left in Africa period. So all you who think it is ok to continue the loss of these beautiful animals go ahead and do under the guise of meat for the natives, and Rogue Animals that need killing because the destroy crops. That foolish statement sounds like Americans killing a feral hog for the in fact true statement of such. Only problem is there are 4 million or so feral hogs and less than 1000 elephants. What a sick and perverted way to "make it ok". Watch however as the loss of this lion will heighten the outcry to finally stop Americans from pulling such an gregarious acts in the future without paying a far more steep price than $50000 and a lost arrow. Lets revisit this in a yr or two and see if those from the corner if this insidious DR and his god given right to continue such hunts has a much different face to it. The American people will change this. The vocal minority of kill at all cost will be very unhappy too.

Im through with this so you guys go ahead and play in your sand box or better continue to stand on it. Right is on the side of animals in this case and it will prevail.

Oh and God gave us the right to domain over all creatures. He did not give us the right to their extinction.

Not sure where your getting your numbers. There are over 26,000 Rhino's in Africa. Easily searched for on the internet. The problem with Rhino's is the poaching for the Chinese market that only wants their nose horn that is thought to be an aphrodisiac. Poachers kill them, remove the horn and leave the carcass in the middle of the night. THAT is the Rhino's problem, not hunters. There are strict laws about legal hunting of Rhino's. Only the old that can no longer breed are allowed to be legally taken and the cost to take one can run into a million dollars. The money goes to conservation of the Rhino's, poaching patrols by private security and game wardens, treating sick animals, and creating habitat for those animals.

Elephants are not endangered at all. There are over 300,000 elephants alive and well in Central Africa alone. Again, easily searched for on the internet.
They are not on any endangered list overall.

Lions are having some trouble. West Africa has very few lions. Most have been killed by Africans that are losing animals, and the farms are taking away their habitat. Its not hunting, its human encroachment into the lions territory.
It is important to know the fact that the number of lion attacks has increased significantly since 1990 in Tanzania alone. Believe it or not, more than 563 Tanzanians were killed and 308 persons were injured by lions in that time. Keep in mind the fact that the lion attacks are most common in rural areas during harvest time. The main idea is that farmers sleep in their fields in makeshift huts to protect their crops from bush pigs when they are attacked.

I'd hope you do some honest research to confirm what I've posted, and not rely on false information put out by liberals that have an agenda to ban hunting and guns, and not necessarily in that order.

You don't know what you're talking about. You can google every animal hugger website that exists, look the endangered species list.........the African elephant isn't endangered.............actually all of your stated facts are incorrect.

Yep -- I have never needed any justification for hunting other than "it's fun." I see no reason to look at it this situation any differently.

Dr. Walter Palmer Vindicated in Cecil the Lion Witch Hunt

Officials in Zimbabwe say Dr. Walter Palmer did not break the country’s hunting laws.

This means top government officials are no longer pressing for the Twin Cities dentist to be extradited to Zimbabwe for killing Cecil the lion. Leaders in Zimbabwe say Palmer is welcome to come back as a tourist, but not as a hunter.

Then on Monday morning, authorities cleared Palmer of all wrongdoing, saying he came to Zimbabwe because all of his papers were in order.
