I'm amazed at how many of you feel compelled to justify this mans kill. Honestly, we're the alpha species on this planet. Rogue this, logic that... it's all wild kingdom. To the victor go the spoils.
As Okbassin said one cannot reason with ignorance ah sooooooooooo true on this subject. Those who spread the poison of rationalizing the killing of lions, elephants, and rhinos truly are more than misinformed. The numbers of these species have dropped off the charts in the last 60 yrs. Lions alone have gone down to less than 25000 form times that. Elephants well they ARE on the endangered list contrary to posts here. Rhinos well less that 250 left in Africa period. So all you who think it is ok to continue the loss of these beautiful animals go ahead and do under the guise of meat for the natives, and Rogue Animals that need killing because the destroy crops. That foolish statement sounds like Americans killing a feral hog for the in fact true statement of such. Only problem is there are 4 million or so feral hogs and less than 1000 elephants. What a sick and perverted way to "make it ok". Watch however as the loss of this lion will heighten the outcry to finally stop Americans from pulling such an gregarious acts in the future without paying a far more steep price than $50000 and a lost arrow. Lets revisit this in a yr or two and see if those from the corner if this insidious DR and his god given right to continue such hunts has a much different face to it. The American people will change this. The vocal minority of kill at all cost will be very unhappy too.
Im through with this so you guys go ahead and play in your sand box or better continue to stand on it. Right is on the side of animals in this case and it will prevail.
Oh and God gave us the right to domain over all creatures. He did not give us the right to their extinction.

Yep -- I have never needed any justification for hunting other than "it's fun." I see no reason to look at it this situation any differently.
Just wondering, do you have any issue with poachers taking down a bull elephant with dynamite just to hack off its tusk?
What's your point?
Officials in Zimbabwe say Dr. Walter Palmer did not break the countrys hunting laws.
This means top government officials are no longer pressing for the Twin Cities dentist to be extradited to Zimbabwe for killing Cecil the lion. Leaders in Zimbabwe say Palmer is welcome to come back as a tourist, but not as a hunter.
Then on Monday morning, authorities cleared Palmer of all wrongdoing, saying he came to Zimbabwe because all of his papers were in order.
