Keep both hands on your firearm and flip the wall mounted light switch with your shoulder.

So what do you do when you don't want to break cover to reach the light switch? When you do, how do you control the light so it illuminates your adversary and not you?

Not a well thought out plan.

The old glock problem, cycling issues while using weapon mounted light
The resolution was changing the magazine spring, from I think 13 twist to 14 twist.
They had to fix that because so many law enforcement was using the lights

I use a Surefire X400 laser/light combo on my gun because it gives me fast easy access to the light, laser or both, however, I use it with a handheld light (either a Streamlight Strion or Surefire 6PX Pro). Gives me a lot of versatility to do whatever I need to do and quickly change on the fly. I definitely believe that a separate flashlight is the best way to go but having an additional light and laser on my gun is even better.
