We had a natural gas water cooled 21KW unit at our last house - 2008 thru 2015 - with no problems. We downsized with our 'retirement home' in 2016 and put in a propane gas air cooled 16KW unit and it has been testing just fine each week. It came on a couple times and ran for about half an hour each time. Maintenance is easy. The power is smooth and doesn't give the computers any fits.

We had the house pre-wired for it with the Generac breaker box so the electrical hookup was easy. We had a plumber hook up the propane.

I highly recommend putting in a standby generator. We lost power in an ice storm before we moved into our previous house. Power was out for about 5 days and it wasn't fun with no power. While the house we live in now was being built, we lived in a rent house in OKC and the street we were on lost power for about 3 or 4 days in another winter storm. Fortunately, our son loaned us a portable generator that kept the fridge running and the heat on. The only long duration power outages happened when we didn't have a backup generator! ...Don't know if it was karma or what ...

We had one put in when our house was built in '08, really happy with it.
Runs on propane, I think the longest it's run was about 6 or 7 hours.
Gives you a lot of peace of mind.

I do think it sucks a lot of propane if you had to run it for several days or longer. We make sure our tank is filled up before tornado and ice storm seasons.

Faith Electric has our contract and installed a 15K whole house unit for us. It has electrified our home a few times for over 8 hours once during a blizzard and twice during a summer storm that knocked out power for 2 days during the steamy July and August months. It has been a good investment.
