Several years ago it was true here in Oklahoma. I bought a few guns back then where I only had to show my ccw card. Then they changed the law and now we have to get the background check.

I believe you still have to fill out the 4473 even if your concealed weapons permit serves in lieu of a NICS check.

It makes sense to check backgrounds. Things can change between the time the CCW was issued and today. Look at all the fools that like to speed and break the law. Anyone one of them could have caused a fatal car wreck and been charged/convicted of a felony crime. Just cause you were golden when your got your CCW doesn't mean you will be 6 months later.

When one has an OK CCW and is charged with a felony crime their CCW is pulled by law until the outcome of the charges are resolved.
