Help on Hand-Gun purchase

Looking for a hand-gun for my father-in-law. Will be his first and probably only gun. Probably will be kept in truck and night stand. Very little concealed-carry. Which reasonably priced gun would you recommend?

If he does not have guns and is looking for something simple, I would go with a 357 revolver. You can find some cheap 357s that will work fine for what he wants.

I personally prefer semi-autos to revolvers, but it's very much a personal preference. You might take him to a fun store and let him check out several models himself to get a feel for what he would like best.
