So I get a call with a number I don’t recognize from Midwest City. Goes to voicemail.
View attachment 403856

It’s not my name, and the transcription left out Kay County as where the warrant was issued.
So, I went to a reverse number look up. The call came from what appears to be an Army recruiting station.
Then looked up the call back number and got a name in Midwest City. Took a screenshot, then went back to the original call number to screenshot that number. Whoa! Now the number no longer shows as an army recruitment office, it now shows a woman’s name in Midwest City. Took a screenshot of that one.

Obviously this is a spoofed phone number and an attempt to scam some money from me, although the name is not mine.

Would it be worth contacting the Midwest City Police Department to report what’s going on in their town and see if they want me to play along?
This kind of crap really makes me mad because there are some that might just fall for it.

What does OSA say?
I'll call them. Lol

If its a scam/spoofing deal, the cops aren't gonna care. However, my mom is a court clerk, and she has to spend a few hours a week calling people with warrants or about to have warrants telling them they need to just come pay their crap. So some of that can be real. She hates that part of her week, I imagine the phone calls aren't all that pleasant.

I worked for an attorney who did collections for a while -- he never called anybody. That was beneath him ... Then I worked in Legal at the Tax Commission. Part of my job was calling people to tell them that their bankruptcy attorney had misinformed them and no, the sales taxes they collected on the state's behalf, but neglected to forward, was not dischargeable in BK court. I hated that part of my job ... at both places ...

I know JUST how she feels ...

I don’t answer calls if they’re not in my contact list. If it’s important, they can leave a voicemail. I discovered that the more attention I give to them by Blocking Calls, only intensified the volume of these spam calls. So now I don’t even bother blocking anymore. It’s all about the contact list. It’s gotten to the point that if a new business or contact needs to reach me initially, I advise them to text me first introducing themselves.
With caller ID, @ least the Heavy Breathing & porno phone calls stopped ( you old dudes remember them 😜 )

When I was in college I got an obscene phone call one evening. I thought it was a friend of mine just being goofy so I played along and gave as good as I got. The guy finally hung up on me. 😐 That was my first clue it wasn't my friend. 😂😂😂 Whoever it was called back every other night for several weeks. He knew my school schedule, my work schedule, what car I drove, who IQ hung around with, the whole nine yards. I never did figure out who it was. When I moved to Ada from Tishomingo, my last phone call from him was me telling him my phone was gonna be disconnected next time he called cuz I was moving. He was shocked because he didn't know where I was going. (I deliberately didn't tell ANYONE I was moving and waited until after that semester ended and most everyone had gone home for the summer before me.) He was furious and said he'd find me. Told him good luck with that and hung up. My phone rang and rang and rang. I finally just unplugged it from the wall so I could get some sleep. Never did figure out who it was ... And either he never found me or he just didn't bother contacting me if he did. Either way, that was one of the many instances in my life that I was lucky enough that the person I was dealing with didn't call my bluff ... I could have wound up in a shallow grave ... Or a bar ditch ... SO. MANY. TIMES. 😐😐😐

Blocking numbers is pointless when they are spoofed.
Yep, what happens, is that you may end up blocking an important number that down the road you might want.
More intel on the OP. Wife's phone number is one digit off of mine. She checked her voice mail this afternoon and had a call from the same number with the same message, even the stuttering was the same, so it was a recorded message.
