However, if you are 70 years of age or more and wish to be excused from jury service, you may be excused, by state law, by telephoning the Jury Clerk at 405-713-1102, prior to the reporting time to assert your exemption.
Jury Duty - Oklahoma County District Court

Good to know since my 5-year "get out of jury duty letter" from serving on a Tulsa County jury at age 64 will have expired.

They waste a lot of time and I have been called 3 times in my 67 years to district court - 2 in Canadian Co. First time it was on an oil surface damage suit where my company was the appraisal firm that was hired to assess the damage. Second was a child custody suit where one of the attorneys had been my attorney on my child custody suit. Nedless to say. i was dismissed on those 2 and did not have to be at anything else. I was in San Antoinio on the 3rd one- your have to show up about 8am and stay in a large conference room like area until 4 pm. They tell you if you do that you are done for 3 years, unless you get selected on a trail that goes on for several days. They also tell you they will call role at the end of the day, and if you are not there, you are in contempt and will have to appear before a judge. I was selected to a jury and they linned us up and had us at the courtroom door, when the balliff said they made a settelment and the case was over- back to the room for a boring 6 hours. Glad I stayed though cause 2 people were not there for the role call and a order for their arest was made.

Way back in 1977, I was called and selected for a Muskogee County Grand Jury. A very interesting and educational experience. At least back then, a grand jury was called for a certain case, but then citizens could bring other issues to the jury and we could accept or reject and investigate other things that we might select. This was during the "great county commissioner" era, and we looked at several complaints about that. We were required to inspect the county jail, and it seems like there were a couple of other things we were required to do. We were assigned an ADA for the duration, and investigators if needed. The ADA was to help with the technical issues. This ADA (democrat) later ran for Governor, and can be seen on a local TV station each Sunday. There was an ex highway commissioner (democrat) who served during the study for relocating highway 69 south of Muskogee. Later after his term was up on the commission, and prior to the purchase of the affected land, he bought up a large amount of the land that would have the highway eventually running through it. We indicted him, but after we adjorned ( we were on this every day for over four months) the ADA decided the wording was wrong and needed to be voided and rewritten. I'm still waiting for that rewrite to happen.

I've served on a couple of juries. I wish they'd have filtered out those people that watch the TV shows where there is a crime lab. Some people seem to think there should always be some lab evidence like they saw on TV.

I don't understand why people want to evade jury duty. It's inconvenient as can be, but it is our duty as citizens of the United States. If you are trying to weasel you way out it just because it's inconvenient or boring then grow up, do your duty.
I agree, If I only did what I wanted, I wouldn't do much, If everyone only did what they wanted, this GREAT COUNTRY would all be like the east, and west coast, and we would have a SENILE, POLITICAL CROOK, THAT IS JUST A PUPPET TO THE MOB, OR WORSE,THE COMMUNIST CHINESE, AS PRESIDENT, THAT WOULD SELL OUR COUNTRY OUT TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER?

It used to be that way, but I think it got changed about 25 years ago. Back in the day, I knew people who didn't register to vote specifically so they wouldn't get called for jury duty.
I was gonna respond to @Bahick71 to say I don’t think that’s correct because I got a jury summons back in summer of 2018 and it had to be driver license-based because the county I had renewed my license in at that time was the one that sent me the summons and it wasn’t the same county I was living in at the time.

Dang, what happened??…lol.

I’ve been called 3 times. Once for federal. The federal was pretty cool actually. I was sent a packet to fill out, I guess for a background check. I had completely forgotten about until a year later I get another summoning. The pay was much better, the chairs are all padded and rock/swivel. They asked me what I wanted for breakfast the next day and it was good food. Where we met was more like a corporate hotel room.
This time last year I got called in for something like that, that was gonna be for a three-month period that involved having to call some phone number every Friday but luckily because of Covid, I was able to get out of it when I said I wasn’t wearing a mask when they said one was gonna be required.

I’m sure it was gonna pay pretty good and pay pretty good on a hotel room but I just ain’t got time for that crap and would’ve made more money at my job without putting all those miles on my pickup because it was almost two hours away.

Sorry but I disagree and just because some joker along time ago thought it was a good idea to say it was my civil duty as a citizen doesn’t just automatically make it a right thing and no, I don’t need to be told to “grow up” if I don’t want to do it.

There’s plenty of people out there who love doin’ that crap so they have no business forcing the ones who don’t want to do this just because said joker said it was the right thing to do.

Take a book. When I was called in Tulsa co it was all sitting around. Lots of inefficiencies. I pointed out one way to speed up, and the kindly little old lady at the desk who organized things suddenly grew fangs and snarled……
