Lankford or Shannon?

I loved the bit where Mr. Lankford said he didn't think anyone should make a life of being in office, but promised to limit himself to eighteen years as a Senator. Eighteen, plus a couple of terms as a Representative...that's more than it takes to make a "life" in the military and earn a pension doing so.

But no, he won't make a life of it....

I didn't hear him say 18 years? you sure he didn't say 8? how long was Coburn in before bowing out?

Coburn was elected to the Senate in 2004. He vowed not to run again after he was re-elected in 2010. He served 3 terms in the House ('94-'00).

Senate terms are 6 years so 8 makes no sense. 18 however does fit 3 6 year terms.

So 18 years is a far cry from some that have been there 40+ years. I have no problem with it.

It's an improvement yes, but I'd prefer they stick to two terms.
