If you are hankering for a 460 that would be fine, but like others have mentioned ammo cost is a huge limiting factor in the 460. Also, the weight of the gun is another issue.

As far as my personal favorite, Smith 29 with a 4" barrel. I like being able to pack it easier than the 6" and it doesn't seem to cause any accuracy problems with the loss of 2" of sights.

But, if cost isn't really an issue, by all means go with the 460.

I have a 500mag and a 629 44mag. The 500 has less felt recoil to me (it is compensated and heavier than the 629). I shoot the 500mag a lot more than the 44mag.

I have the 460, 629, and Colt Anaconda. I find myself grabbing the Anaconda first. I shoot it the best. I have taken both deer and hog out to 75 yds with it. The 460 is much heavier, bulkier, louder, and expensive to shoot than the 44 mag. All guns suggested are good. Find what you shoot best. I would start with the 44 mag.

I have a Raging Bull 454 Casull and I love it. I bought it to pig hunt. I have a friend with a 629 and my 454 feels better to shoot to me and him.

if you go 460 just know that it can shoot 45LC and 454 Casull so it doesn't have to be all that expensive to shoot....

shoot the 45LC for fun and then dump in the 460mags get your point of aim and hunt it out done right you will be out less than a box of 460 if your wanting the round buy it

I shoot a 7 1/2" Ruger Blackhawk in .45 LC. It is an absolute tack driver and it's easy to load either cool thumpin target rounds(200grn swc), or load up Full House Super Nasties (250rn GDHP) for the serious work. Fun gun and it wont break the bank.

If you decide to go this route you might want to consider getting a set of reloading dies for it.
I suspect a cheap reloading setup would pay for itself in short order.
