Around here a .44 Mag or .45 Colt is all you need. A well placed shot from either of these will drop a moose. There is no reason to go with a .460 or .500 unless you just want to. Can't beat a Ruger Blackhawk.

I agree, i hunt with my Ruger 44 mag. Killed a nice deer with it at 5 yards 3 years ago... he had no chance.

opps, i said Ruger...i no longer have the Ruger, i replaced it with a Taurus....this is what i have in 44 mag - not the 454 casull. I love this gun.

Browsing at academy I saw a 44 mag S&W for less than $550 with a 6" barrel. Stainless with rubber grips, good looking gun.
