Ahhh, the woes of living in an RV and not having to do ANY yard work. Oddly, while we have agricultural roots between the wife and I, neither of us are into gardening.
So, I guess I'll save my "tiller money" to use on something else.

I noticed that the gearbox takes gear oil like the differential on a car per the manual.
So I pulled the dipstick to check it.
Looks like they filled it with vasoline.
Kinda had a fish smell to.

Mine had gear lube in it. But I think guys got different models and makes! The one on the right is the models I got. They came in a metal cage inside that box in the photo.
Grease in a slow gear box works great! I run wheel bearing grease in my gearbox on my Old Gravley and the gear box on the brush hog and rotary plow. I also ran it in all our ATVs front and rear drives.
