I haven't had that in 30 years but I'd eat it again. My son would be like WTF is this if I made that for dinner. He has it way better than he knows.

Yep. Which may be why I don't like regular kraut now.
Funny thing, we ate lots of beans and cornbread, and I still love those.

Yes, lots of squirrel also.....fried, with dumplings...etc.

So what's the difference in "Bavarian Kraut" and regular? I love the Bavarian kind from a can - but plain old kraut is no bueno.

Regular is fermented cabbage and salt, Bavarian has sugar and spice added IIRC. Grandma always added sugar and garlic when it was time to serve.
