it's actually EXTREMELY interesting hearing the whole "but muh HOLOCAUST" brought up any time the South is mentioned. again, there's the CSA doc that spike lee wherein of course the usa helps the Nazis in WWII. i assume this is the beginning of the "South -> Nazis" comparisons, but like most things they are incredibly misplaced.
if *anything* in american politics could be philosophically linked to the Nazis it's most certainly early 20th century progressives, namely those that arose predominantly from newly powered Northern propagandist machines. in fact, *some* of the very same people that FUNDED the south during the war, AFTER the war purchased these machines and used them to push the same ideology but in a new package.
yes, black people were inferior, but it was merely science and they couldn't help it. we shouldn't enslave them or waste resources returning them, we should sterilize them and prevent them from reproducing thru birth control and abortions. this was the eugenics movement of early 20th century progressives like Margaret Sanger, who learned much of this radical theory from the Fabian Society while she was in Europe. this sort of thinking was *extremely* common with the northern post-war elite when confronted for the first time with a mass influx of people they thought to be "inferior". (to see this play out in real time today: see illegal immigrants (slaves) being bussed to northern cities like NYC or DC and their politicians reactions. read anything about hispanic women being sterilized or had forced hysterectomies performed on them?)

of course, this way of thinking philosophically leads to socialism -> communism, which we all know if we're talking about "muh death numberz" it's not even close. of course you can kill ethnic undesireables in a communist or socialist state, why their *very existence brings down the whole*. it's easy to forget the whole "socialism" in nationalist socialism.
and this is proven by today, wherein we have openly communist nations, using communist iconography on their flags, calling themselves communist, knowingly committing ethnic genocide TODAY, RIGHT NOW, and no one even cares or at least *can do anything about it* because said communists actually run the world. because they won the war. which war tho?

now, if *only* there were some reason why a poor white southerner might be *upset* at a certain people who not only *literally started* the transantlantic slave trade, but also escaped completely unscathed any of the drawbacks of losing a civil war that they also funded......

Always amusing to see the CSA supporters try to explain away slavery. But the bottom line remains: the CSA wanted to preserve the evil of slavery & white supremacy so much they made double-extra sure it wouldn’t be outlawed ever again by putting it in their constitution. That simple fact alone should make their cause a deal breaker for current support of the CSA. Any support now justifies slavery as a consequence of their wish the South had won. That’s an atrocity you can’t explain away.

are you saying that "evil white supremacy" ended in 1865 and that no one in the north was "evil"?
One of the best texts I've read was "Life in the Confederate Army" by a Scotsman who moved to Baton Rouge around 1850, got caught up in the war, and marched through Indian Territory, Arkansas, etc...
