Your point?

I assumed that this ruling/law would violate the full faith and credit clause of the constitution so I looked it up. As much as it pains my state's rights heart, it appears there is constitutional authority for the feds to decide the validity of our DLs. Well, at least for federal purposes.

I have done it several times with mixed results. The look on their faces is priceless sometimes.

Note: I only do this when I have plenty of time before my flight.

Is it an acceptable form of ID for clearing TSA?

Answered my own question.

No. At least as if the 7/16/14 update.

So are airports actually, actively denying anyone access into the "secure" areas if they have an OK DL and no passport? I know lots of people, myself included, who don't have passports. That seems like it could get really ugly when someone who's bought a plane ticket for several hundred dollars is denied entry.

What about what someone else mentioned with court buildings and such? I guess those are usually state and wouldn't matter but let's say the social security office at Shepard mall where they check ID's to get in? Are they going to require a passport? 90% of those folks aren't going to have one.

Says it could happen in 2016 at an airport. GTG will let us know well before then...

Hell, right now you can get on with no ID and a letter from the CIS.

<edit> Which is still more than it takes to vote in most places in America.

Yes, I will. :)

Or even a letter from the Guatemalan consulate in Houston (don't ask).

Meh, I have four federal ID's and they probably have a double digit amount of my fingerprints (in digital and ink format). This will not effect me personally, but I stand behind my comments that blind obedience to the all seeing eye is more important than actual security. :(

No matter about IDs, I'm more pissed I can't buy beer at Walmart if my 27 yo daughter is with me.

I agree the Fed ID law Sucks but I think It's within the Feds power.

OK. I'm not sure on that in bold above. Back on May 3rd, the wife, my youngest son and myself went to the Fort Sill Artillery Museum. We presented our OK driver's licenses and had no problem with getting on the base
I forgot about those special cases. NAS Pensacola is another that will let civilians on with a valid ID, for the Naval Aviation Museum. The catch is it only allows you to transit from the gate, to the museum and then off base...at least that was the rule at PCola. If you're issued a military ID, it is expected that you use it. For instance, I left my CAC in the computer at the schoolhouse in PCola on day when I left for lunch. The gate guard almost didn't let me in because I was in uniform, have a base sticker and SHOULD have had a CAC card. I had my DL and my restricted area access badge, but that doesn't fly. The same goes for Tinker. If I leave my CAC behind, my DL or flightline access badge won't get me on base, despite the latter being a badge that grants more secure access than the CAC. A state DL, or anything other than a military/federal ID, won't get you on to Tinker and most other bases that lack an attraction. Exceptions are made for airshows and when being escorted by someone with on-base privileges, of course.

...sorry for the pretty OT explanition. I just didn't want someone upset at the gate (backing up traffic and making me later for work, haha) because a DL didn't get them on
