I just renewed my DL for 8 years (good til 2030) at about $80 at a nearby tag agency.
I don't have a Real ID, but do plan on getting one before May 2023.

I'm not sure, but getting a passport might involve divulging more information than what getting a Real ID does.

And, if one is worried about one's thumbprint being involved with the Real ID, how many of those that are worried about that have a concealed carry permit and have given ALL 10 digits to the OSBI on their fingerprint card?

Passport is $130 dollars and an 8-11 week wait, plus the cost of the photos. Real ID is $42.50 (free if over 65). Makes sense to me. lol

We travel a lot to foreign countries so a passport is certainly required. If you already have one, no need to spend another dime on a real ID is possibly what he was getting at.
