I don't think 30% chance means it will rain 30% of the day. I'm pretty sure it means 30% of the viewing area will get rain.

It means that given the exact same temperatures and conditions it rained 30% of the previous days with matching temperatures and conditions. In other words, they're just guessing based on previous patterns.

We started to leave, but took a look at the gridlock going on around our neighborhood and decided we were better off inside of our brick house than inside of a car.

Going off the way some of our OKC peeps talk about him this doesnt surprise me. Never watched the OKC area news stations. So i wouldnt know.

There's a difference between getting the heck out of Dodge in advance and telling someone to go out into rush hour traffic with five to ten minutes before the tornado gets here. The problem wasn't telling people to run like hell, it was telling them to do it when they no longer could.

Mike Morgan never told anyone to go into rush hour traffic, he said to get out of its way. The news had also been broadcasting those storms since they started to form and were giving the directions of travel for the storms, all the folks listening, which was pretty much everyone, has plenty of time to get out of the way, save a few that were by no fault of anyone simply caught at the wrong place at the wrong time.

Anyone with any common sense living in Oklahoma will already have a plan of what to do and where to go in the event of these storms. If more people had storm shelters at the homes then this would be a mute topic. Common sense and preparedness are lacking in todays world.

I will not blame Mike Morgan or any weather person for anyone dying in those storms.

One of the BIG problems is when a weatherman issues a statement that is held to be only issued by the NWS. Local weather stations can't issue Tornado Warnings, that can only be issued by NWS. The local weather people can say they see one on the ground, but the term Warning is held to be in the domain of the NWS authority. There are many subtle issues in weatherspeak that can get your local prognosticator in deep trouble...
