Not suitable (so the Dr says) for severe OSA.
Depends on what the Dr. means or understands.
Can Oral Appliance Therapy be used to treat severe OSA? Yes
Is it the FIRST option? No. CPAP is.
Have I successfully treated severe OSA with this therapy? Yes
Have others successfully treated severe OSA with this therapy? Yes
Most MDs have very, very little training or experience in treating OSA. Sorry to all the docs on the board out there.
Most DDSs have even less training in it.
What they sometimes forget is that SOME treatment is better than NO treatment.
If someone IS NOT going to wear a CPAP, then what options do you have?
As an aside, in order to achieve Diplomate status, I had to submit cases documenting successful treatment of severe OSA.
