Been picking away at the yotes. Shot this young male thanksgiving day.

Called this big female in two weeks ago. Used a challenge howl and she came charging in on a trot. I thought she was snarling but upon retrieving realized she had a vole in her mouth.

Killed several more while checking cows but I rarely go retrieve those.

I went. Coyote hunting Saturday and Sunday. Saturday was a bust. Sunday afternoon I killed one early then called a triple and managed to get two killed.

The old .220 swift and some 55gn nosler varmaggedon bullets over a super stout charge of varget got the job done. Far one was 205 second one was closer but a running shot. Too bad fur prices are in the tank these had really nice coats.

What sort of mouth call should I buy?

I prefer an open reed call. I can make coyote vocalizations and prey distress sounds with one call. I prefer a reed mouth call for whimpers and pup distress but they're harder to use. Mine is a custom made by a guy in Alberta that was a gift from a friend. Used a primos Lil dog for a long time it served me well. My elk hunting partner uses a predator quest ruffy dog and has good luck with it.

I never sit more than 15-20 minutes unless it's the last stand and I don't have time to make another. Coyote vocals will be the way to go the next 6 weeks or so as the coyotes are getting ready to breed. I'm with 7stw on the mouth call. Get a decent open reed and learn to you it.

Took this one at about 250 yards with my CZ557 .30-06 with 180 gr. Remington Premier Accutip. It did some damage on the exit side! There was blood and chunks of "stuff" hanging on the weeds behind it.

Christmas Eve we couldn't resists Not hunting in the fogg. Killed 4 in one set in about 4 mins. Went to another spot and picked up another double. We had a blast. Lol

What sort of mouth call should I buy?

I use skeery mouth calls. Be aware that when it gets below freezing the reeds of any mouth call have a tendency to freeze up. Put them in the arm pit under the coat, and they thaw out pretty quick.
