Pretty sobering child predator statistics

I have many friends that are LE and was talking to a couple of them not long ago about this. They mentioned that so much of this issue could be reduced or completely prevented by parents taking control of what apps their kids have access to. They just refuse to do it or think that it won't happen to their kids, and it does.

When we were in the OSBI, one of our annual training sessions had one of our agents explaining to us how easy it was for predators to "comb through" the social media posts and find out just when a child's parents were at work and how far away work was. He went on to explain how so many details of the entire family's life and schedules were easy to find.

Sickos are multiplying. Was a little easier to keep them in check before the internet and social media.

It’s pretty sad/crazy just how much data people share on social media. Even with all of the stories about things going awry and warnings of such.

It is really sad when it is the child that is providing the information without realizing how dangerous that information is in the wrong hands.

Was easier to keep them in check when Politicians and Media weren't THEM and helping to cover for THEM.

Was easier when the U.S. Post Office was the main distributor of child porn (they used to advertise it as entrapment).

We have a daughter that gives her kids free reign at about 13. My son doesn't give his kids phones at all until they're 18. Guess which kids are "present" and remarkable.
Of course they complain and say they're missing out on friend stuff, but it's worth it. 100%. No questions.
