I have severe sleep apnea and RLS. I ended up with a CPAP and take a pill for RLS called Mirapex. I put that CPAP on at night and it's now total and restful la-la land.

I recently had a sleep study and will soon be getting a CPAP machine. Did you have any idea before your sleep study that you had any problems? I felt a little railroaded at my sleep study; it was like it was already a foregone conclusion that I had a problem. In my opinion I currently sleep great but my opnion counts for little with the doctor and my work. Also, how long did it take you to get used to wearing the machine? Since my job is invloved with me getting this thing, not using it won't be an option for me.

Now for a question that may seem a little strange. Has the CPAP machine affected your dreams? I have a really interesting dream life; I'm afraid the machine will mess that up.

Druryj, how in HELL do you sleep with that mask on? I have, apparently, very severe apnea and the pressure of the air blowing in my face is awful! I can't take it for more than just a few minutes.

For RLS, by the way, Mirapex is a life saver. Without it, sleep is not possible.

I used to sleep with a CPAP before I lost a bunch of weight. One night I was awoken when I ripped the mask off my face, broke the mask where the hose attaches, and threw the whole thing on the ground. That's what happens when I dream I am being attacked by a giant snake lunging at my face.

I've had RLS. But I started taking vitamins/suppliments and haven't had it since. I take Centrum multi purpose, fish oil capsule, Glucosimine Condroitin, 500 mg Calcium, a baby aspirin, two vitamin C tablets, and a B complex.

These are what my wife (who is also my medical provider) recommends I take for general health, but I've noticed that I don't have the "shakey leg" any more.

Dude ... that is almost EXACTLY what I take every day -- just up the calcium 500 mg. I don't know that I had RLS but I did have trouble with my legs and feet cramping at night. Not since I started taking those vitamins I've not had any problems.

I started using the CPAP a few months ago and it has made a world of difference for the better. The "mask" I use is really just a headgear and hose with a nose piece that fits up against each nostril. It took about one night to get used to it. Soooooo much better sleep. I dream all the time now it seems. There is no question that it solved some issues. I don't snore anymore and no sore throat. The sleep test was expensive, but the machine is not too bad. My insurance bought it, but I think the machine was only approx. $600.00 with the humidifier. That's not chicken feed, but well worth that!

I don't have RLS, but a dead ringer for sleep apnea. I wake up so much more rested now.

I had some indication cause wife said I snored like a freight train and kicked around a lot in my "sleep"...The CPAP took very little for me to get used to. I actually find it quite comfortable and now I get enough air to get to stage IV sleep...where dreams occur as I understand it. I prefer the full nose mask but they also have nasal pads which some say they like better. My machine has a humidifier feature too. My sleep study was horrendomous; I was having an avg of something like 37 "events" an hour where I stopped breathing; the longest was 37 seconds. No wonder I was so damn tired; i was not getting any deep sleep at all.

Hey everybody I've never started a thread or whatever but I could use some help. I have always had problems with rls but lately I just don't sleep much anymore . Does anybody have these sleep problems or any advice on changing life habits. My first step is giving up caffeine and more exercise. Has anyone done a sleep study and if so did you get help. Thanks for any advice, I don't have insurance at the time and anyone out there that's has some helpful advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If you decide to do a sleep study, my brother owns a company called Great Plains Sleep Specialists, I can give you his number if you like. He has sleep labs set-up throughout Oklahoma at many hospitals.
