A fan and some classical music turned very low works well for me.

the snoring of my 90-lb yellow Lab.

This I can appreciate. Our Border Collie goes to bed with Mrs. LW and I and gets right up against her and I sleep very deeply for two or so hours. As the night goes she gets out of bed in the summertime and goes to a cooler place even though we have fans on. After that I sleep lightly and the Border gets me up if anything is happening, as most dogs do.
