Above 26,000GVW up to GVW 54,000=Class B or something like that
Up to 26,000GVW=regular DL

This is commercial use, not private as mentioned already.

Class A is combination vehicle (tractor/trailer) over 26,000 GVWR
Class B is straight vehicle (dump truck) over 26,000 GVWR
Class C is for passenger or hazmat endorsement in a vehicle that does not meet the criteria for either the Class A or Class B license.
anything over 10,000 involved in interstate commerce is subject to DOT regulation but special license isn't required until you hit 26,001 lbs.

Anything for personal use does not need any license or permit regardless of size or what kind of brakes it has. You could go buy a Pete to drive back and forth to work or to take the kids to school in and would not need any special license.
