Mac, this is so sad. Prayers for all of you.
Praying for Jeannie's recovery and peace for all those affected that love her.Update on this girl that helps with Sweetie:
She's about halfway through the 6-week chemo schedule, but it's taking a toll. She's become so weak that she can't walk. I'm no expert, but this doesn't sound like good news to me.
Y'all please remember her in prayer, her name is Jeanne (pronounced "Jeannie").
Thanks.
Thanks, guys. This means a lot.@MacFromOK - prayers for Jeanne, Sweetie, and you, as well as all of those involved in the care for each of you.
Well, I have more news. :/
Her Mom emailed me this morning, and said Jeanne is in a "long sleep" and won't wake up. Apparently it's not exactly a coma, and the doctor said it could be a sign that her brain is trying to heal, but her Mom asked for prayer that she will wake up.
Again, y'all please remember her in prayer.
@tRidiot, if you could comment on this situation, I'd appreciate it. It don't sound so good to me.
Thanks.
No problem, Doc. Thanks for the reply.Sorry Mac, I just saw this.
Consciousness is a strange thing... there are many things that could have been affecting Jeanne's condition. If I remember right, to maintain consciousness as we know it requires a functioning brainstem and both functioning hemispheres (the 2 halves of the brain as we think of it). Anything that disrupts the electrical signals in any of those areas can disrupt consciousness. Just thinking along that logical path, if she is having response from the chemo killing off a tumor in one of those areas, cause shrinkage of a mass or change or swelling or whatever, it could cause her to lapse into unconsciousness. We would assume if she gets the support she needs while the brain is healing or adjusting (like IV fluids and nutrition) for as long as it takes, there's a good possibility she will wake up at some point. Could be days or weeks, perhaps longer, but this is very uncommon.
I'm not a neurologist, but the doctor is/was right, it could have been the brain's reaction to the chemo, especially if she was having a really hard time of it.
I hope she's doing ok now.
Wow, Mac, that is heartbreaking. I am glad she is not in the condition she led you to believe, but I am really sad she felt the need to pretend such things. Do you know from her mom, did she REALLY have a recurrence of her brain tumor and was she really undergoing repeat chemotherapy?
