What's a good self defense gun for Grizzlies?

Kodiaks have been taken down with a compound bow. My personal choice would be a .44 mag. You are going to be able to kill a bear with one "well placed" round. I'm begining to think that if deer were more dangerous you guys would only hunt with rocket launchers.

SxS 12 guage coach gun, no hammers, shell holder on the stock. Bears are fast, 2 shots is probably all your going to get.

Haven't read the whole thread, but Federal has new Barnes slugs that will penetrate 48 inches of ballistic gelatin. Those, in a shotgun you can keep with you, should do the job.

Anything smaller than .44 mag needs the front sight filed off smooth so when the bear sticks it up your ___, it won't hurt so much. Stay plumb away from hollow point ammo. Those are for thin skinned game. CB
