I was watching youtube videos and came across this video of a guy griping about Walmart not willing to sell him 9mm ammo for his rifle, but they would sell him .22 ammo on the account of the .22 ammo is smaller. He apparently was under 21, and could not buy handgun ammo, but argues that it's for a rifle and the law states he can buy it. My question to you is, do you err on the side of big business and say, "it's their store, their policies, if you don't like it go somewhere else". Or are you on his side in griping about what you think Walmart should, and shouldn't sell you? Also, can businesses make policies that contradict laws like what seems to be the case here?

I realize this is an old video but it got me thinking.

Life's too short to waste time fretting over little stuff. However, I didn't really start to understand that principal until I was around 60.

Hey man, a store or any other business is entitled to have its own policies. If an individual doesn't like those policies they have a right to patronize a different business.

Incidentally, I worked at Wal Mart during HS and college. At the time when someone purchased ammunition the register would ask "Is this for a rifle or pistol?" If the customer responded pistol then the register would require the purchaser to be 21. Of course the easy way around that is to just say rifle regardless of what it was for.

In this guy's case, it sucks, but I don't know that I have much sympathy, because 9mm Parabellum is a pistol round, even if you are firing it from a rifle. Wal-Mart has a right to cover their butts on that sort of thing.

Doesn't matter big business or small. You have to cover your butt.
When I had my store we made them bring the gun in and show us or it was a no sale.
There was several times when it didn't feel right and we watched the person walk out and get into
what looked like an unmarked cop car that was waiting for them across the street.

Big business brings stuff we all want to market at rock bottom pricing, with that said remember the regulators, State, Federal and independent operators are all looking for their cut.

I believe that it may be law that somebody under 21 cannot buy pistol ammo just like they can't buy a pistol. I had this happen to me at a gunshow when I was 20, 16 years ago, when I tried buying .44 mag ammo. They asked if I was 21 and said they couldn't sell me pistol ammo. I had just bought a Winchester 94 in .44 mag and I had the rifle in my hand. I held the rifle up and told them it was for that gun and they eventually sold me the ammo.

Dont know how it is now since its been a long time since i had to worry about it but it use to be any ammo that would fit a pistol u had to be 21 to purchase regardless if it was to be used in a rifle.

...22 fits in a pistol
... because 9mm Parabellum is a pistol round, ...What ,exactly makes that determination?
The "stores " can do what evar they want ...raise a fuss and youll get escorted out..believe me.
Thats part of the reason i dont shop at wallyworld..much
I order bulk ammo online...comes right to my door.... ;)
