If you posted this 2 years ago I would have given you some antique wood working hand tools including very old hand planer with knifes etc in nice wood boxes .

I gave them to a buddy for free.
He said he loved those old tools.

What kind of woodworking does your son lean to? A lot of woodworking hand tools cross over, but some of the more esoteric ones can be fairly specific. An heirloom quality tool sincerely given and well used is an encyclopedia of fond memories.

He most does furniture. Some rustic, some more refined.

a handy small gift could be a AAA membership if they will be traveling a lot. Mine will give a 200 mile tow, 5 gallons gas, etc for no charge.

22” blackstone griddle. When we travel in our RV it’s used almost daily.

My wife just purchased a 22" Blackstone griddle for our anniversary. I have not used it yet, but will be taking to our place in New Mexico next week and give it a trial. Her place of work has a 36" Blackstone that they use all the time for company weekly meals and they love it. I hope it works as well for us.

A quality pocket knife would do the trick with a couple of pieces of balsam wood to start on. Maybe a diamond knife sharpener.

Make sure you get the dome style lid on it.
We even use ours as a smoker. Do ribs, pork butt and so on.
