Would be hard choice between my M1 Garand and SC03A3. Ammuntion of any type is heavy, ammunition loaded into magazines is even heavier, either of these can be carried with lots of enbloc clips, or even more in 5rd stripper clips. 30-06 is a do it all cartridge, and the 03A3 probably takes a lead against the M1 Garand since its not as ammunition specific. Not that I'd want to be shooting lots of 180gr to 220gr loads out of her, but she can.

I'll take a B/A 22LR. This is the go-to gun for eating. That is #1 on my list. I don't like pieces and parts, I want to be able to eat the rabbits, and misc. small game I shoot. A 223/7.62 or whatever is loud! drawns unwanted attention, and doesn't leave much left to eat of the small stuff.
If we are talking SHTF/ self defence, I'll take a AK. one word explains why.....Reliable

22 rimfire in whatever configuration you like. One that holds lots of rounds.

Yup. I'll take a 10-22. Small, light weight, holds "enough" rounds, will take most game or deal with BG's, doesn't make much noise. The biggest plus...they just work, day in and day out. Parts out the wazoo. I can carry 500 or more rounds at a time, try that with a battle rifle. You won't even be able to stand up.

1 AR lower with several uppers. You could have a .22 lr plinker , pistol caliber carbine, 5.56 carbine, 5.56 long range, 6.5/6.8/.300 etc. for hunting and a big bore for dangerous game.

Pretty hard for one of the other rifles to pull that off.

+1, makes a lot of sense to me too.

It's hard to argue against the AR platform for a all around rifle. The simplicity of the controls and the light weight make it tops for me.

I do like the .308 round but the muzzle rise makes follow shots much harder than the AR. I'm probably thinking about this too much from a 3 gun perspective, but it's my frame of reference.

I wouldn't be too worried with any of the firearms listed. Once I'm a little more accustomed to my SCAR it will probably top my list.

Yea muzzle rise is a bit more with 308, but it is very rare that you need more than one....so? Last Kodiak bear I had to kill was with 1 round of 308, and yes it was on the island! I wouldn't want a .223 there!

1 general purpose rifle to me means able to fill most rifle roles. 0 to 100 yards, 1-300, and 3-800.
Now, my AK 74 can do almost anything out to 300, but then it fades. (3x scout scope)
My Savage Bolt gun .308 can do great in longer ranges, but no CQ stuff. (10x fixed scope)

FAL in .308 can do just about anything, but really excels at 100-600 yds. (4-12x variable) Not the best CQB, but it can do it. Not as accurate as the Bolt .308, but I can squeeze 4 inches at 300 yards, on a gusty day. It IS heavy, but can be managed.

I don't own an AR, but honestly, I don't feel the need for one in my lineup.

I like this answer, though I agree that a squirrel zapped with even 147 grain milsurp would turn to dust. 5.56/.223 is a pretty versatile round, but I just like the trusty 7.62NATO.

The 10/22 is probably the best choice, really.
