Some time back, this thread was going with a lot of comments about the different smartphones. In that one, I mentioned that I was eligible to upgrade to a newer phone in July. Well, it is time.

I am absolutely NOT INTERESTED in an I-anything, so don't even bring that one up. The thread above had a lot of good reviews from some OSA members for the Galaxy S3. At the time, the S4 had just been released, so there were not any reviews for it. Does anyone have the new S4 and can you compare it to the S3?

I currently have a Droid X2 by Motorola, and like it well enough, except for size. We are and will remain with Verizon.

So, now I return with the question for all of you, "Which is the best phone for phone, internet, and hotspot for a laptop?"

I was going to upgrade to the S4 Active, but decided not to. While its a great stride in the right direction, the hardware fails in comparison to the S4. I'll probably keep the 3Gs

I too had the Droid X2 and upgraded to the S4. X2 was my first smartphone so I can only compare the S4 to it. I like the S4 much more than the X2. I'm getting 4G connection (Verizon) at my house in the sticks and hot spotting from it as I write this. I can also use the phone and text while using Hotspot. This will allow me to eliminate the Myfi we were using. My X2 hotspot didn't work too well. I know you are a camera guy but I think the S4 camera is fantastic and has more options than I'll probably ever use. Your opinion on this would be much more educated than mine. The phone can do more than I will ever need but as tech limited as I am I'm already taking advantage of the multitasking functions on the phone. The voice options and capability are also much better and smoother than the X2. The S4 is a little larger than the X2 but not noticeably heavier. My 2 cents: I'm very happy with the S4.

i have the S4, and upgraded from the Infuse. Processor speed is great, and multi-tasking is great. I have 0 complaints with the phone, and I've had it for nearing 2 months now. Everything works great on it, from camera, web browsing,to apps.

It really all depends on what you want to do with your phone. If you are a power user, and like to have control over everything on your device, I would suggest either the Galaxy S4 or the HTC One series phones. If you want easy of use and a nifty live tile experience you can go with the Windows phone, but in my experience Windows phone didn't have as many of the popular apps available.

We must find things to do/look at/play with during what would be the optimum productivity periods of the day... Plus, lugging around all the stuff the smartphone replaced would eventually end up with the wrong kind of lower back problems:)
