let him take it and report it stolen when it is gone..
A stay in jail may do him some good.

You can get a tracking device and you will be alerted as to when it is on the move.
At least i think you can..
But simple;;;; pull fuel pump or ecm relay.

17 and he does not have his own beater yet..
By 24 i had owned over 250 vehicles....got my first ticket at 12 and got my license at 21 had too many points on it to even take the test to get one...got down to 36 points and i was able to take my driving test at 21.
I bought all my own cars and paid all of my own way.
Feel better yet?

i like this idea

or you could drop the drive shaft, won't matter if he's got the keys or not

Tell him you will beat his ass if the truck is used, and back it up when you get home and it has.

Its a parenting issue. Corporal punishment is allowed in Ok. I wouldn't touch a thing.

That sounds like me but his Mom pisses me off by giving into him. Can't blame that one on the kid.

Pull the Coil Wire.
Better yet, leave it in place and put some paper under it. Edit: not for that model

Walk him out to the truck and snap a pic of the odometer and inform him if there is 1/10 of a mile more on the odometer, he will be the one disabled.

Parenting issue

Unhook the starter.
Parenting issue, but a good Idea.

Making sure you have all the ignition keys seems to be the obvious solution, but a cell pic of the odometer is a good backup in case the kid is anticipating you taking his keys and made a copy. At 17 I was pretty much the man I am now as far how much I respected my father's instruction, so I think you may be beyond most parenting advice here ESPECIALLY if you and mom can't get on the same page.

Get off my lawn.
I wouldn't have taken it at 17. I was and still am scared to death of my dad. I was instilled with respect for his authoratah at an early age. It was always high on my priorities not to rock the boat my parents provided.
