I think if 1 out of every 5 cops are bad there would be many more instances reported in the news. Sure there are incidents that are not reported and there are certainly bad cops. But there are 800,000 cops in the U.S. If you look at all of the undisputed incidents where a cop did something dumb compared to the actual number of cops I think you would see numbers are actually quite phenomenal.

Many of us are at odds whether an incident is undisputed. Michael Brown, no doubt, he earned his, there are others that are undisputed by the police, but disputed by the many in the public. I do not think that it's unbelievable at all that one in five people in any profession are in the wrong profession.

So, in further evidence of the tenner of the times;

Cruising down Riverside at 71st this late afternoon, on the NE corner of the intersection holding a big high viz green sign is some older guy, white hair and white beard, no not Santa, the sign reads "Dead democrats now".

Wow..... tough to empathize with some ones position when they are calling for the death of their political opponents...

What seemed as unbelievable was the reactions of passersby headed the other direction, some big laughs, smiles, plenty of blank stares of course.

Just another dimension to all the craziness these days.

I've seen an effort to report more positive stories too lately, I was glad to see that...but you guys need to "police" yourselves better too to shake the bad publicity (like muslims need to do)...forget the the code of silence when your fellow officer is wrong...you are a citizen and a patriot BEFORE your job choice. Don't forget that and don't fall to the "us vs. them", militarized mentality that is being pushed on so many departments. Obey your oath and expose the corrupt ones or at least don't support or enable them. Not all cops are rights-violators, but most rights-violators are cops...it tends to lead to the distrust. Take back that trust...befriend the citizens who are not crums and are law-abiding. Speak out on cases publically and amongst your friends and colleagues on cases that are undefendable where some officer acts like a North Korean prison guard. If this thing ever collapses, inevitably there will be trials like Nuremberg and "I was just following orders" won't be a sufficient excuse ...just my humble opinion

There are a lot more of us and I think common sense has gone out the window. I know that in my lifetime we have gone from feeling reasonably safe in your own home, leaving doors unlocked, etc, to worrying about home invasion and keeping a gun at hand as much as is possible.

Wars and stuff do not really count because there has always been wars and there will always be wars. Frankly people seem to be reverting back to savages and have many more people to do it on. Not to mention better weapons to do it with.
