there was talk of a similar "east loop" somewhere in the area of choctaw rd. around the time they started the section of kilpatrick TP that tied in HE bailey and norman
but they couldn't get enough support of the local residents



i've herd the only TP that are in the black are Turner and HE bailey , supposedly they pay to keep all the others open

I wish they would build a turnpike between Pecos and Carlsbad 285 is terrible and deadly.

More turnpikes are a slippery slope.

A Republican member of Congress told me last week that he recently was in London for the first time in a long while. “Traveling was so much better,” he said. “You can actually get around. That traffic-charging system they’ve got seems to be doing a lot of good.”

London’s system deploys 1,360 closed-circuit cameras at 348 sites within the charging zone and on its boundaries to record the license plates of vehicles entering and moving within the zone. The plates are continuously matched against a database of monthly accounts, and “spot” payments are made via Internet or at kiosks, drawing down accounts or billing license-plate holders. This cumbersome system arose not only from the absence in the U.K. of electronic toll collection systems such as E-ZPass when the system was launched a decade ago, but also from the decision to charge for car trips entirely within the zone in addition to vehicle entries. A byproduct is the relatively meager net revenue available for transport improvements.

The tracker is set to feature a ‘smart code’ tag embedded into the road tax sticker. The code can be tracked by the relevant authorities and satellites. It will be designed to shatter at any tampering attempt, and can transmit an alert to the JPJ and police should one try to remove it. Questions remain as to privacy concerns surrounding the system.

I remember when the Kilpatrick in OKC was one of the most underused roads in Ok. That has certainly changed.

Hell, I'm all for it. The only well maintained roads in the state are toll roads.

Sorry, but you need to take a Ford F450 and a 38 1/2-foot fifth wheel across some of the elevated roadway of the Kirkpatrick and Creek turnpikes. When we pulled our fifth wheel across the Creek once, we had to slow down to 45 mph to stop the "bucking" being caused by the uneven section joints that even make a regular vehicle bounce a bit.

You need to head down to Texas. The toll roads in Oklahoma are crap compared the stretch of I35 that the Chickasaws paid to have paved, and I35 between the Red and Dallas is better than any road in Oklahoma. The Turner sure ain't nothin' to write home about...

I35 from the Red River to Denton, is okay. From Denton to Dallas it's one of the worst roads in the country. It's under constructions now, making it worse. Hopefully when completed it will have been worth it. Thank the heavens for the GWBush turnpike. Making I635 unnecessary for me. By the way, have you seen what they are doing with I635? Yikes! Making it two story. With an express (toll) lane in the middle. Crazy.

On the Kirkpatrick Turnpike by where it passes Lake HoldHerCloser (Overholser) it's like an amusement park ride. If you're doing more that 60 it will bounce you out of your seat.

Can't bring that one to mind, but the Creek Turnpike in Tulsa going east from 169 headed toward Warren Theater in Broken Arrow is insanely poorly-executed. Big long elevated section of roadway with a several-inch bounce on each support. I can ride it "ok" in my Tahoe with (relatively) soft suspension, but in my 370z which is low (and lowered) and sport suspension, I feel like I'm almost going airborne at every joint at highway speed. Holy SMOKES, that thing is ridiculous!

Yep. I use it every day now. Saves me at least 15 minutes of driving through Edmond, and that was before they tore up 33rd/Broadway.

I like taking the wife for a drive in that spot. Someday I'm probably gonna hit the wall though...
