To eliminate the pigs, trapping will win by the numbers. It only takes one mistake or person not knowing what they are doing to turn a whole area, and I mean a large area, into a bunch of trap shy pigs. You can ruin it for a very long time.
If you just want the pigs off your place or area for a while, dogs are more effective. After you run them several times they will usually go on down the road for a while. Plus its more fun.

Other than just running pigs around or off a property, hog dogs are basically useless. Of course, it could have more to do with how the hog dog hunters use their dogs, but my experiences with hog dog hunters have all been disasters.
