But some weapons that are not appropriate to hunting, self-protection, or competitive shooting should, perhaps, be restricted on the open market. I mean hey, besides EGO or bragging rights, why would someone need a howitzer or an armed jet fighter? :anyone:
Again, the 2nd is not about hunting or competitive shooting and your suggestion of restricting anything other than those infringes on our rights of freedom afforded in the Constitution.
If you can afford an F-16 with a vulcan 20mm cannon why not? If that is too dangerous for someone to own, let's extrapolate that down to the average homeowner's level. If one homeowner can only afford a hipoint for home defense, is that where we set the bar for home defense? We only allow Mossbergs, and not Benelli M2's?
Do we restrict a homeowner that can afford a Daniel Defense AR to only owning a hi point?
I know the F-16 is a fun thing and I'm stretching it, but if you can afford it, why not?
We have the greatest thing that the world has ever invented....Freedom.
Those that live in countries that have no freedom's wish they lived in ours.
We have the greatest country in history, let's not let the gun grabbers take that away from us one inch at a time.

I'm not missing the point, I'm seeing that our main dog in the fight has decided to bend over to those who want nothing more than to chip away at our rights until they're not worth the paper they're written on. But things don't always go how we want and if, IF, this is how it is going to go, the NRA and our lawmakers would be doing us a great disservice by not gaining rights while they put even more useless restrictions on us.

Ok, if you say so. You can ask, "What if?" or, "Why not?" all you want. It isn't going to happen. Ever. The NRA will sell out the "fringe" elements of the firearms community in a heartbeat if they find it politically expedient - which they have.

Just wait until YOUR guns or particular firearm-related interest is on the chopping block.

That statement is false , it says keep and bear shall not be infringed ......it doesn’t mention only bear arms on your property, it doesn’t say bear them anywhere but in public, if we take it literally ther should be no infringement on bearing your arms while bellies up to the he bar
In some states that recognize the right to bear arms, it's perfectly legal to carry in a bar.

There comes a time when it may be necessary to forfeit a battle in order to win the war.

Just a thought. :drunk2:

At least fight a little before throwing in the towel though. I was actually shocked by the news for once when they announced about the NRA. Thought it was another one of their lies at first.

Define society? Are we going to make an app and everyone gets a vote? Approximately 1/2 half of society thanks there should be not guns at all ? Maybe in the perfect conservative Utopia society can decide .....but in reality society today would be split down the middle saying the reformed person should have never owned a gun in the first place....so how does this undefined society decide and what are the rules?

I am not disagreeing with your concept here only pointing out the fact that simply saying society decides really isn’t that simple.
we are a republic, why do you think that society has to be a direct democracy?
