I'm just going to tell you that the market is saturated. There's also an issue of insurance and finance that is causing all sorts of issues. You will need a ton of cash. I can tell you that my firm just wrote the insurance to what is projected to be one of the largest growers in Oklahoma. Their operation is large, well thought out, and will be a force of competition and they're not alone. This isn't to say small growers won't do well, it's just that you're gonna have some competition and some of them are already months ahead of you.

Also, from my experience the ATF will not distinguish personal ownership vs "LLC" ownership of a single member LLC that is operating. From what we have seen so far anyways.

just got off the phone with my ex boss whom retired from the oilfield a year ago. He has a deal in the works to open a large operation consisting of grow, processing, and dispensary all at the same location and wants to bring me in as an investor. He mentioned a few things that has me concerned though and that is he believes it will be federally legal before Trump leaves office. Also talked how we are on a fast track to becoming like Oregon (I need to spend some time researching that whole deal) due to the ease of getting a growers license.

So if it's going to be legal for people to grow their own before President Trump leaves office as a lot of people say why would you need medical marijuana?

you wouldn't and that's the whole problem. Of course there are guarantees that will happen but it was mentioned to me as a possibility that would turn my investment into a loser lol.

Everyone thinks they are going to be an millionaire from this deal. Big money will generally win out. They will have all the pricing power. You will also have to think about enforcement. In Oregon, going by a friend that has a farm up there, they are losing out to those that are NOT compliant and their pricing is lower due to lower overhead. The enforcement is a joke, so those that play by the rules are getting hurt. Not saying it will be the same here, but be aware.

Im 34 years old, I don't work, and I have a good amount of cash sitting around doing nothing and I know that emerging markets are the best way to generate big money. I love weed and have always been interested in growing it and really think I would enjoy the whole process. I am just now starting my research as to if this is a good investment for my time and money or not. I know some of you on here are knowledgeable about these things ( @CHenry ) and would like to get some discussion going on the subject. Please please please try your best to keep this from turning into a debate as to whether weed should be legal or not, there are other threads for that. This is a thread to discuss the business side of medical marijuana only.

thanks.
It's the easiest stuff to row in the world. Most people over complicate it. I'ts a weed, there are two things to remember 1. Genetics, crappy seeds or clones will produce crappy weed. 2. The magic is in the cure no matter what genetic you are growing.

Check out some forums dedicated to this, Grass City used to be good not so anymore, rollitup.com = a bunch of knowitalls but it does have some good information and ICMAG is probably the best. THCfarmer is worth the look.

The key is just like anything else, start with someones system and tweak it to your own.
