First of all, welcome to the forum, and I 100% agree with this last statement, but I do have to agree with a large majority of gun owners that his actions as an auditor were not appropriate and did not help the cause.
When His "audit" at the restaurant hit the national news which always takes incidents like that in a negative manner, it doesn't help gunowners.
There are many other ways to "educate" the public and LEO that were brought up in the thread. He could have set up a booth, posted signs, and offered to "educate" to those that want educated and maybe inform those that are on the fence.
But, he chose to use shock therapy on the public and went into an area where he was not educated on current gun laws in the state of Oklahoma. Before one attempts to educate, they should be educated.
The restaurant was not an illegal place to be carrying - serving beer. Perfectly legal, as verified by our OK2A rep, @sturgisrun
Not sure what his charges were.

I completely agree with showing the public we find his actions unacceptable.
I do not agree with the way some go about it.
To say we hope a gun owner loses his rights and goes to prison for being an idiot and all the vicious dialogue is not the way to go about it.
I am not saying you were one of them. I haven't paid attention to who said what.
He was treating his "disagreeing" fellow gun owners the same way he was treating the soccer moms he was terrorizing. He was asked multiple times by OK2A to stop referencing their organization while auditing and he just kept doing it anyway. He took a LOT of heat from gun owners for these "audits" but he kept doing them anyway. He thought he was smarter than them and BY GOD he was going to educate everybody whether they wanted to be or not.

Some people just refuse to "get it" when they get advice, they have to learn the hard way. Mr. Harper seems to fall into that group.

Credibility or not, it's good advice and maybe you should listen.
Not everything he's done has been harmful. Much of what he's done and the way he's gone about it has been. But good or bad, right or wrong, smart or stupid, he tried. He was out there. What are we all doing? In most cases nothing. Maybe we should be trying to educate him and others like him, showing them the right way to go about things. But throwing him under the bus before the eyes of our enemies because of his stupid mistakes is also not helpful to the cause. In fact it is down right harmful! Maybe more harmful than Harper's actions.
When our enemies watch his videos what do they see in there minds? They see "one of them crazy idiot gun fanatics." But only the most brainless among them can teally think what they see is representative of the typical gun owner. What do they see when they read this forum? They see dissention in the ranks. They see division. They see how easy it may be to pick us off one by one, sow discord among us, and to divide and conquer.

They see level headed gun owners who carry responsibly and condemn an idiot who tried to cram his rights down everyone’s throats. Ok has some of the most lenient gun laws in the nation and it’s getting better every day. We don’t need people like him presenting a negative image by scaring people. He’s a wannabe tacticool idiot and pushed it too far.

IIRC, Don Spencer, the front man for OK2A, was one of the first to start doing the 2A "audits" and Harper was part of the group from OK2A .

I have watched several videos of him acting much like Harper basically daring LEOs to arrest him. I think that Don Spencer created this monster, so to speak, and then cut all ties when he lost control of him.

I believe he pulled back from doing the audits about the time that Harper starting getting a lot of negative press and feedback from the 2A community.

I have watched a lot of Spencer's videos of himself doing audits and OK2A events and meetings because I try to learn a lot about an organization before I consider joining them.

Because of Don Spencer and his ways I have a difficult time throwing my full support towards OK2A. I personally think they need a new front man for their organization.

THIS has been my point ALL along. It takes one idiot doing something stupid to cast a bad light on us all. In the military we had a saying. "One oh **** does away with 10 attaboys!". Its true and always has been. This guy is bad for the image of the responsible gun owner, and the image of the person who carries responsibly.

You all closet liberals crack me up. I personally would like to be able to walk into a restaurant carrying my 18" double barrel shotgun and lay it on the table and now its legal (no matter if they serve beer of not) and if I did and it got reported to the news of went viral on FB, yall would shun me and call me an idiot.
Enjoy your government controls.

Not sure what his charges were.

It is an illegal place to carry a rifle because they serve beer and alcohol. (The bad alcohol does not change anything)

His charge was based on exactly that.
