We had a 20kva Generac at our last home at the lake. Always worked and never a problem. I think they require a certified Generac tech do the install and register the unit so using just any electrician might be a problem.

^^I noticed the same. I'm not dissing on you, but for me it's like Will Rogers said if you have to ask how much it costs you probably can't afford it.As of yet, no one has given any estimates on total installation cost/power output - that’s what’s really interesting me in this discussion.
We spent $9K but we had other work done on the house at the same time. They replaced the load center and added 3 outlets.There is an estimator tool on generac's website to figure the size you need with prices, and says allow about $2000 more for installation. Won't be exact, but should give you an idea what it will cost.
