I filled my Mom’s in 2018. She was sick and broke. It was a little over $500. Trump was president then…how much does the president have to do with it? Best to fill in early fall.
Well Biden's minions and a bunch of European leaders were basically begging Russia to produce more oil & gas at the big climate change summit last year. No irony there right? Meanwhile we are giving Russia a green light on Ukraine, Biden even said the words not more than two days ago. Biden wants the Russians to take care of his European buddies so he really has no choice with them on Ukraine. Germany has more cajones than Biden, they are threatening to yank their support for their pipeline if they invade. Let that simmer a minute.

What do you think Trump would have done? Hint: He's a businessman. We were a net exporter under Trump. Not anymore, Biden fixed that problem.

The cost of our utilities are up too but since we "think" we're in tune with what's going down it comes as no surprise. I filled the car yesterday $2.99.9 , rolled into town today and it's $3.14.9 That bites, 15 fkn cents over night. Wife went to put her grocery pick up order in with wally and NO pasta, I stopped elsewhere on the way home and you can bet we got pasta now.

My natural gas bill was $75.

Higher than normal tho for a winter bill. But I am thankfull it was under $100. I had my hvac system replaced in 2018, the furnace is a 95% efficient model. I have centerpoint, or whatever they call themselves now since they were bought out.
We have a 98% efficient new furnace and we upgraded our insulation to R60 and our bill was $97. We keep the thermostat at 73 degrees.

Yeah Buddy, I had a much bigger natural gas bill for a couple of months and couldn't figure out why.

I finally figured out why when I walked into my utility room and it was like walking into a sauna.

Did some checking and finally figured out that I had a slab leak. Turns out the Hot Water Line from the water heater to the rest of the house was leaking. Dang slab leaks!! My 2nd one here. My contractor guy and his plumber looked at it and decided it was in an area where it could be repaired, but it would have been especially more difficult and expensive because of a couple of stem walls etc. Ended up having a Pex run up and through the attic and down to another area where they were able to tie in to serve the rest of the house as normal.

I balked at the idea of PEX because I heard it would fail, but they assured me this was a different kind that swelled better and would not burst, which is a really bad idea in the attic and walls. That would suck too.

I've been told most if not all of the houses in my neighborhood area have the same problem, or will have the same problem with slab leaks. One poor lady has had 3 different slab leaks in a years time. That really sucks.

Anyway, it really ran up my natural gas bill. Apparently the hot water heater was running 24/7 due to the leak.
PEX is a good material. I see it in most houses under construction now and it is used in walls and attics like copper was used. It will freeze without bursting and is extremely easy to install. I have had PEX in my house since 2010 without any problems.

We bought a new furnace year before last when the AC went tits up. (Both units were over 20 years old and the cheapest the original owner's kids could put in to get the house ready to sell.) Anyway this bill is the first one I've gotten that has been over $100 IIRC. Wait ... I honestly can't say that because I don't remember what the bills were during the ice storm in October ... Or the one last year in February, was it?? Anyway ... $113 and some change. I'll wait to start complaining because I'm pretty sure it's gonna get worse before it gets better.

95% high energy heating unit and 14”” of insulation 1950 sq ft home 71* setting = under 100$ a month ONG gas. Keep in mind when you convert to high energy heating you will als get at least 18 Seer cooling in the summer. We also were given a rebate on the unit.

Our home is well insulated, We built it in 2019. It is right around 1700sq ft. I’m sure I’m just thinking outside the box and most of our home are similar other than a few gas or electric appliances. That would probably explain the average cost. I know their are a lot of variables that will come into play on gas consumption so who knows. On a side note, my AGM thermals show me all the cold spots around the house. This thing has helped out a lot! White hot or black hot gives a creepy X-ray type look on exterior walls.

I can write my name on the wall with my finger and then see it with the thermal.
