Are there lower end guns that are lower than the hipoint?????:yikes2::bigeye::saywhat::screwy:

yep, the lorcins, bryco and similar. I think HP's are bulky, ugly, and not my cup of tea. However, for a cheap shooter, they will go bang. Hard to beat $129 or so for a 9mm. Not everyone is a gun fanatic and requires something more. I ussually do, but ya'll get the picture.

About the sorry Sig. I have a 228, that is as accurate as anything short of (and including some) "match" guns I've shot. It will also eat anything. Hot, mild, hollow point, even the "wadcutters" I made by turning a normal bullet backwards. Over 3000 rounds through it (nothing compared to some others here), and the only thing that jammed it was a primer turned sideways. How I didn't catch that going into the mag, i dunno.

Never shot a HiPoint. But LOLOLOLOLZZZZZZ!!!! at it being "as good as" a Sig. The design of the Sig is reliable and accurate. So unless they've started replacing the feed ramps with sandpaper, or the mags are the suxorz now on all production guns, your "buddy's" 226 is a tried and true lemon.

Then again, I have a "buddy" with a Wilson 1911 that jams every other round, and patterns like a shotgun at 3 yards. LOLOLOL!!!! His Taurus 1911 is more accurate and reliable than the Wilson.

I have GOT to see the Sig that is less accurate and reliable than a HiPoint.

As someone observed in this thread, if one is on a very tight budget and wants or needs a handgun, this is the least expensive offering. The lifetime warranty is another plus.

What good does a lifetime warranty do you for SD if you're likely to use it? I've seen the "very tight budget" excuse used before but is anyone here representative of that?

We all say we want the public armed (or at least most of us do). Some of the public will only be armed if they buy a Hi-point.

I'd betcha that "some" could find a way to save money for a better platform.

About used alternatives, I think a person knowledgable about handguns would find it difficult to secure a reliable used handgun for the price of a new Hi-point, and most first time gun buyers are not at all knowledgable.

My intial comments said "cheap" not for the equal price of a new hi-point. Honestly, when these threads come up, it's not..... "I'm desperate and have no means and can only afford $150." It's "hey these things are cheap, are they any good?" To that, I still say that they are generally worthless from a self-defense perspective. You get a crapshoot on whether or not they will work. Lorcins and Brycos being even worse but that's another thread.

There are just too many cheap commie block options out there that are MUCH... MUCH better designed and built, if going dirt cheap is your only option.

I know everyone hates them, and more expensive guns are definitely better, but I have a hi point and have no problems with it. Was actually driving out in the country last night and happened upon a rabbit that was completely bonkers. Didnt' run off the road when I pulled up, honked, got out and stood next to it. He was severely sick or something. I felt bad for him so I capped him with my C9. It shot just fine and killed just fine.

It jammed a bit when I first got it, but after I put about 200 rounds through it I haven't had a single jam. I took it too my conceal carry class and was just as accurate as anyone else and more accurate than most.... (granted I was about 12 inches from the target it seemed)

It's a great gun to leave in your glove box or tackle box or wherever else you don't want to put expensive merchandise... after all you aren't going to cheapen it by putting a few scratches on it.

I am in OKC and would like to buy one right away - this week. Outdoor America doesn't have them in 9mm and I think they'd kick me out of H&H if I even spoke the name. :-) Where can I get one pronto?

Honestly you probably can't. Bob Morris (www.morrissportinggoods.com) is where I got mine. That is probably what he deals with the most. He'll get your name on the list and get you one cheaper than you can get one anywhere else, and probably almost as fast.

I own the hi point 40 and have passed up many offers to sell it in the last 2 years. All the guys i shoot with make fun of it until it out shoots thier gun or shoots just as good, then their $500+ gun doesnt looks so hot. I even went as far as to sell my sigma over my hi point when i decided i didnt need 2 .40's. The sigma was sloppy and had a bad accuracy problem (talk about junk). Yes if you break into my house in the middle of the night your gonna be getting smoked by a hi point. I carry this gun when im 4 wheelin or working my hunting area i have a black hawk holster for it and the extra mag and wouldnt take anything for it. I can have 3 guns for what most of you have in one so dont forget the saying "theres strength in number". Bash them all you want but if anyone has one they want to sell in the 150 range ill take them all day long. Why buy a hummer when a ford will get you there.
