Wife and I have been to the Gathering Place twice now in the last month, last night being the latest. What a wonderful facility. We still haven't see it all, but those that built it deserve the award of the best new venue in the country.
We went late with a full size M&P/optic concealed under my light jacket. There was nobody checking anything. People were walking in and leaving. No security gates, and there were plenty of employees with radios around to alert security if anything developed. Can't wait to get the grandkids over there.

We tried to get in twice but it was waaaay too crowded with a line of cars waiting to find a parking spot. Ain't no frikkin way I'm gonna creep in line inna car to get out and walk a mile to get in another line to get in. Let the "newness" wear off a bit.

It wasn't crowded at all. I'd say we were there at prime time on a Friday between 4pm and 7pm. If you get in an area with a little congestion, it's easy to just take another path and be all by yourself again. The restaurant at the boat house was not totally full. People were eating and leaving. Around 7 there were several empty tables. The food looked good. Plan on eating there on another visit.
The only place we felt any sense of crowded was at the skateboard park area. There are marked areas for walkers, bicycle and skateboarders. Don't get out of your area, you might get ran over if your a walker. LOL.

Was it the Octoberfest event?

Apparently Don Spencer had some trouble trying to get in to that venue.

Good for him. I'd like to see what the outcome of this will be.
Who knows...he did the same thing there last year and threatened a lawsuit but he never followed through.

I'm starting to think that these "audits" that he does are only to try and raise membership and maybe he doesn't really want the problems to go away because then he wouldn't be able to generate as much publicity for his organization.

I hope that isn't the case.
