i dont think i would consider a purchase without knowing you girlfriends skill level.i would definatelly recommend a good training class and a rental range first.

Probably something bigger than a subcompact. Bigger guns are easier to rack. My cousin couldn't rack the slide on my Shield.

My wife doesnt have really long fingers but not really small either, but she does love her sig sauer p239.. get some hogue grips for that bad boy and it even fills my massive meat hooks.. just my 2 cents

Just think of how many shoes your wife tries on before she walks out of the store not buying anything while you're miserable staring at the floor thinking to yourself about how your life has turned out.

I took my wife to the LGS and she loved the Springfield XDS 3.3, I'm personally not a fan of the grip safety but she loves the gun so we picked one up.

I dont see how any 9mm pistol could be too big for purse carry. Depending on the day I feel like my wife could carry a KSG or folding stock AR in her purse.

Let her try many and select one for herself. Otherwise the odds of her actually using one you select is very small no matter how well thought out your selection may be. My wife chose an XD-9 subcompact.

My wife did the same only in reverse. The only time her G42 gets shot is when I shoot Pocket Glock in GSSF matches with it.
