Its my understanding that now there is no OAL restrictions on semi pistol now but there still is on a revolver right? And I know .40 is the min for a pistol so that would make .40 and up, including 45 ACP, now legal in a semi but now a revolver if I understand the regs correctly.

Correct on all that, but you can use .357 Sig in semi, even though it's less than .40. Can't use a moon clip and 10' barrel .45acp in a revolver :)

Taken directly from ODWC huntguide:

Semi-automatic handguns: Chambered for any centerfire ammunition with a 100-grain or heavier soft-nosed bullet and having a cartridge case size of .40 caliber or larger (includes 10 mm, .357 Sig., and 40 cal. or larger) and a minimum barrel length of 4 inches.

Centerfire handguns: Chambered for .24 caliber or larger and 100 grain or heavier soft-nosed bullet having an overall cartridge case length of 1.25 inches or longer are legal (.357 or larger

Handguns chambered for any centerfire rifle ammunition: Chambered for any centerfire rifle ammunition using at least a 55-grain soft-nosed bullet and having an overall cartridge case length of 1.25 inches or longer and a minimum barrel length of 4 inches.

I misinterpreted as is evident in my earlier post.

I used a 45acp Hi-Point pistol and Federal American eagle FMJ 230 gr. round nose when I killed my first Doe at 47 paces with a pistol.
Bang flop right in the neck.

I sat in a tree all day and evening saturday and sunday Braved the rain .
Buddy did the same and scored a huge 11 point .. biggest he ever killed.
I got a medium sized 8 point.
I am all bucked out this year.

Both came out into a field in the late evening but hung by the brush line. Both were alone.
They died from a 155gr V-Max wound.

SOOOO many squirrels.
A few chipmunks were seen also.

Went out to NE OK near Arkansas last weekend. Had an invite to hunt a 400 acre ranch. Sat Friday night and Sat morn and night. Lots of does but unfortunately the bucks were nowhere to be found. They've had folks hunting it since opening rifle so I'm guessing the remaining ones have probably gone nocturnal....Oh well, there's always next year or maybe one with the bow this year.

What ammo do you guys use for deer using the .45?
I use 180 grain +P Hornady HP that runs 1050fps. Complete pass through on one deer. Recovered the bullet under the skin on the other.
Recovered the bullet from the bob cat too.

This is the recovered bullet from the bobcat:

I shot a bobcat from 15 feet away with my .308.
I was sitting on one end of a tree (log) that had fallen across a small creek.
The cat jumped up on the other end and started walking towards me..when it noticed me it crouched down like it was going to pounce on me.
Too late kitty I had my rifle pointed at you before you ever got on the log.
I carried it about 400 yards back through thick woods and briars towards the camp..well camp was 3 times farther and the cat was heavy..I left it there.
