34 and 45 could both be derived from the info provided. If it makes y'all feel better my 15 year old granddaughter did it in her head in about 3 minutes. I struggled with it for quite a while when I first saw it.

2+2 CAN equal 5, but only for very high values of two..... Fuzzy math at it's best!
