I'm sure you know more than the engineers that designed it, It's always a bad Idea
btw . 2.5 ton is not undersized for 1500 sqft
Engineers are never wrong and there is no room for improvement once the engineers decide right??

Way too many variables to assume you know the correct tonnage based of square footage alone.

if 2.5 tons won't handle 1500 sqft then more btu's isn't the answer

2 hours every week to remove the housing is ridiculous. Screen are very common in the Deep South. Shouldn’t be an issue if removed and cleaned weekly (5 min not 2 hours) that’s a win.
the problem with dead people is they don't know they're dead
