My grandpa grew up in Kentucky and wanted squirrel and dumplings. He complained when my dad would shot them in the head. He would fish the squirrel heads from the bottom of the pot and suck the brains out through an eye socket.
Now, I believe that any animal that is healthy when it is killed could be eaten there are some thing I don't want to try. My dad always told me the head was the best place to shoot a squirrel. Grandpa shoulda left that in Kentucky.
