I purchased a jailbroken Fire Stick off of eBay earlier today. Can anyone clarify if there are any potential legality issues that might arise from streaming media through Kodi or Genesis?

No legal issues. You are simply receiving a signal. You are not storing it on a HD nor sharing it out. The people broadcasting it, that's another matter.

I pay $88 per month which equals $1056.00 per year. That's a nice vacation-locally, maybe Branson-and I haven't learned a thing from Direct TV except they run the same old shows over and over. I think I'll quit the big boys and go to the antenna or SlingTV. The big corporations like Direct TV and Dish are making a lot of money off of us.

Psst--Sling TV is Dish, just without the, err, dish. (No, really--Sling TV is a subsidiary of Dish.)

And just think about it. You are paying them to deliver channels that are plumb full of commercials, not to mention a bunch of junk you will never use. Raise your hand it you would like to have QVC among the other shopping channels removed from a lineup as well as all the "music" channels and have your bill drop by ten bucks a month. Another 5 bucks off to drop foreign language channels. I would have been ecstatic to have about 20 channels I could pick for 20 bucks a month.

The channels that cost the most to deliver btw are from ESPN. If you look at directv's lists you can see just how much a channel is worth. Those prices are per unit for a hospital or dorm so each tv is a unit.

What's the data consumption like when you go 100% streaming like that?
I use about 120gigs a month. Now this is between 2 rokus, 3 tablets, and a computer with heavy online gaming.
I watch all my TV via 3 apps, Hulu, Netflix, and Amazon Prime. I also plug a computer to get other shows from overseas. Been cable free for about 4 years.

So my Exede Satellite system with a 10 gig max out here in the sticks probably won't work with any of these systems?

I cancelled cable about a year ago, kept Internet service, and bought a Roku.
It reduced my bill by 75%. I still have cable service to this day.
I called the provider several times to make sure they cancelled my cable service.
It turns out the Internet and cable run through the same feed in my area.
The only thing that changed in my bill.
